Fundraising for the Princess of Wales Hospital in Ely depends on people who choose to give up their time, their money, or a Saturday morning, and this year we’ve had plenty to be grateful for. Here’s a look at some of the organisations and events that have made a real difference recently.
Our Local Rotary Clubs
Three of our local Rotary Clubs have raised significant sums for the Trust recently. Ely Rotary Club held a quiz night that raised over £600. Littleport Rotary Club went further still, raising over £1,500. And South Cambs Rotary Club ran a Christmas car parking scheme in Cambridge, successfully bidding for the Trust to benefit from the scheme and raising £1,500 in the process.
That last one relied on our volunteers taking turns to manage the car parks throughout December, often in cold weather during one of the busiest months of the year. Thank you to everyone who gave up that time.
Cars & Coffee Cambridge
We’re also proud to be one of the charities supported by Cars & Coffee Cambridge, the monthly meet-up hosted by CBS Automotiveat Grange Farm in Horningsea, alongside the Rotary Club of Cambridge South, who share in the support. It runs on the first Saturday of the month from 10am to 1pm, except on bank holiday weekends, and has been a fixture for local car enthusiasts for over eight years.
Our volunteers have been serving refreshments and getting to know the regulars, and yes, admiring some genuinely impressive cars along the way. But the real value has been the relationships: new contacts, new supporters, and a steady presence in a community that might not otherwise come across our work.

None of this happens without people choosing to help: organising an event, making a donation, volunteering an afternoon, buying a coffee, entering a quiz, or simply telling someone else about what we do. Every one of those things adds up, and we’re grateful for all of it. Together, it’s helping us make a genuine difference at the Princess of Wales Hospital in Ely.
